Hi, I’m Emily Blue.

I’m from Portland, Oregon, a place steeped in evergreens, strong coffee, and an almost reverent love of design.

Raised by artists, I grew up with an intimate view of the creative life, not just the beauty of making, but the uncertainty, discipline, and quiet doubt that often comes with it.

At nineteen, I rediscovered my creative spark during my first week of cosmetology school, a moment that forced me to question whether I was choosing the right path. Rather than pulling me away from art, hairstyling became a way to support my practice while staying rooted in creativity. I haven’t stopped drawing since. Drawing grew into painting, and painting gradually shaped the work I make today.

I’ve always been drawn to people, their faces, their stories, and the figures I encounter both in the world around me and in my inner world. While portraiture remains my north star, I’ve fallen deeply in love with painting light and color, exploring the subtle emotional shifts they create and the quiet moments they illuminate.
